Fall, Friends, and Football!

As you saw from my previous post I was in CT last week. Apparently I had perfect timing b/c it is was peak season for the leaves! I have NEVER, not even in NC or TN, seen leaves as pretty as I saw last week in CT.... Waterbury to be exact. That also happens to be where my Daddy Mike (as I have called him my entire life) grew up. Very cool to see his old stomping grounds.

Next stop was Washington DC for a presentation I had to give. Check out the Capitol. I took this picture from my rental car as I was driving to my hotel. Nice scenery I would say!

On Friday I stayed over and went to see Shannon in MD. Here she is in front of her NEW HOUSE!!! Congrats Shay-Dog and Elisha! They closed this Thursday so I only got to peak in the windows.

Hanging out at an Irish Pub in Annapolis, MD
I flew home at the crack to get home in time for the SC vs LSU game. Hmmm the game was at 8pm and I was at the airport at 6:30am. Makes sense to me! Had to make sure I wouldn't be late and make Drew a nervous wreck about missing the game.

a little tailgating..

the SC State Fair was going on next to the stadium. Only in the South do you get the joys of a state fair and a football game in one place. Can we say TRAFFIC!
Excuse me? Keg stands on the side of the road? We do not know these randoms :)

Joel and Tracy

Drew and I... do my eyes look a little sleepy? The adorable football cake Tracy made for the tailgate. I made Bojangles chicken... yep slaved over that for a long time!
it was FREEZING at the game
touchdown. You can see the fair in the background. Love the lights!

Letterman's Club at the stadium. I think everyone was freezing and had the same idea we did. WARM UP!

A fun ride in the SKY

Today I boarded a plane from CT to Washington D.C. When I checked in it looked like I would have the row to myself. Perfect I thought..I'll stretch out and relax! As always, I boarded with the mad rush of other frequent fliers and took my seat. After 10 minutes went by it looked like I was going to be lucky and have the seat to myself. WHEW! I know you all do that too when you fly... you just hope that person coming down the row doesn't sit next to you. I even go as far as putting my purse in the seat and stretch out so even if it is their seat they will keep walking and grab another. So my luck changed quickly, not only was I going to have to share my row but I was going to have to share it with a 350 pound HUGE man. I about died.. you have got to be kidding me I said to myself. Small plane, only 2 seats in the row, you get the picture. I got up (I was on the aisle) and let Mr. Chubby slide in. Not only did Chubbs slide in but he SAT on the arm rest, I heard a huge CRACK, and he said "well shit". Mr. Chubby broke the flipping arm rest right of the chair!!! He kept trying to fix it.. yeah right. He broke the thing clear off the seat, metal was dangling off the chair. He proceeds to put the whole darn arm rest in the back pocket of the seat in front of him. I about peed in my pants! So Mr. Chubby and I talk a little and then I look over and he has dozed off. Thanks Chubbs what I had to say wasn't that important anyway. He then proceeds to snore and start falling over on me. You know the kind of sleep when you doze and your head starts flopping up and down. Not just his head but his huge body starts falling onto me. I would cough loudly and he would wake up and move over. That would last about 2 minutes and then he'd doze again and then start falling over on me all over again. This happened for a good 30 minutes! I couldn't read my People magazine b/c Chubbs was in my lap! By this point I was sweating b/c if the 100 degree heat on the plane wasn't enough I had be a chubbster in my lap! To add to the fun the 2 men in front of me started to fight over one man's bag being in the other man's "space". Seriously! The jerk who didn't seem to have enough leg room then proceeds to yell at the flight attendant and tell her it was not fair that he have to sit with another man's luggage. She snapped back at him and then he stood up and took pictures of the bag. You go boy!!! You send those pics to US Air and see how soon they will send you a free ticket. Not going to happen! So there you have it.. a day and the life of a frequent flier. Oh the joys! Next flight I am going to sport one of these lovely masks and sleep through all the drama :)

Bless, Maddie, and Helen- our trip to Paris last February :)

A weekend of Fall for Greenville and a lot of Cawoods

Drew had another big event this weekend to work. Fall for Greenville is a great event held downtown. There are about 45 local restaurants that serve their food from different booths, 2 stages with live music, and tons of rides for kids. Matt and Nick even came in town to help Drew. They have been in town for almost a week! Such good sports! Matt was in charge of one of the stages and Nick was in charge of checking all the radios, shirts, etc. in and out. I was in charge of eating and drinking! Drew and Matt were lucky enough to not be on the schedule on Saturday (wonder how that happened) so we all ventured downtown to the Greenville Drive Stadium for a SC alumni event to watch the SC vs KY football game. It was a lot of fun!
Friday night I went to help Kristy and Julie bake a pirate cake for Sam's b-day party.
When you don't have a big enough bowl then why not break out the metal drink/ice bucket??? Julie and I swore we saw sparks flying!

I was in charge of one thing and one thing only- counting 8 1/2 cups of flour and putting it in the bowl. Bringing wine into the mix caused me to have to count my 8 1/2 cups over and over and over. I finally gave up!

Greenville Drive- SC Football game

Does a man really need to scream at the TV? Does he really think they can hear him? I know everyone else could! It looks like the place was empty in the pics. We really didn't break in and turn the game on ourselves...

After the game and not a moment before it ended we headed to Sam's 5 year birthday party at a park downtown.

The Pirate Sam and Drew
There were 900 kids at the party... here they scrambling are after the pinata broke.

Drew did feel the need to venture to check on all his folks at Fall for Greenville.

Nick hard at work. I love the smirk on his face :)

On Sunday afternoon while the men worked Sandy came to town and we went shopping. Did I mentioned the "fairy" also came last weekend while I was gone and cleaned and waxed ALL my floors. I am so lucky!!! They have never looked so good. Thanks Sandy!!!

A dog's life...

Matt grilled out steaks for us last night. The dogs were drooling the entire time he was cooking. The poor guys got nothing but our left over fat! Check out their tongues :)

So you think you can dance?

My friends and Drew often question my taste in music. I love some black jams as I call them! I got this video over email today and I was jamming at my desk... Thanks Julie!

Happy Fall Ya'll

It's beginning to look like Fall around the Cawood house! I love Fall and couldn't wait to get to Lowe's to stock up on some mums and pumpkins. Just like every year, these will die in about a week or 2 and then I will find myself at Lowe's again. I had to take a picture so I could remember how cute my house looked.. at least for a week or so! Happy Fall Ya'll!

I am thinking I might need a tacky wreath on the door? You know the ones with the fake leaves and pumpkins that are glued on. I have a thing about fake flowers but I might give in this year. It looks a little bare...

Rocky Top you'll always be...

Last week I thought it would be fun to drive across the state of TN. Yep, just me a my Pontiac rental car! I did refuse to do it twice so I flew to Memphis and started my journey. Not so much to report in Memphis- just a few meetings and a night in a hotel. Oh and these blog pics go in backwards order... Next stop Nashville! We flew some of our top clients into to town for dinner and a factory tour. We ate at Stockyard- one of the top 10 best steak houses in the world mind you! It was fabulous!!! Next a little dancing at the Wild Horse Saloon and one night in a Nashville hotel. The next morning everyone boarded a bus and headed to Crossville, TN for a factory tour! Ahh yeah! Lucky for me I kept on trucking in my Pontiac. I don't do so well on buses.. like I get car sick and yack on the person next to me. After my tour it was then on to the big city of Philadelphia to visit the dog lady and her wild animals. Mom and I had a great visit and did some shopping and redecorating on the home front. Two nights in Phili and then on to my next stop- 1.5 hours to see my Dad and Sara in Townsend, TN. Seriously they use to live 20 minutes apart and now I have to drive 1.5 flipping hours to visit both sets of parentals. Dad, Sara, and I had a short visit but it did include eating at Sister Cats (so good) in Townsend and seeing all the beautiful things they have done to their mountain house. Next stop- Alcoa, TN to drop in and say hello to my step-sister Amy and her family. I couldn't wait to see baby Blair.. great for me he was sound asleep. Darn kid.. what was he thinking sleeping when I was coming by. So I got my fam time in and then it was time to see at least one friend. I met Rena and her fam and we all headed to the TN game. Oh how I miss going to all the games. We had a blast! Then on Sunday I was off to G-ville to see my hubby and dog children I neglected since Tuesday when I left. I missed them tons. And the most exciting news... I am not traveling this week. Holy Smokes! So in backwards order...

The Power T!!!!Rena, Seth, me, Hope, and Todd. Me- the 5th wheel. Dad had 6 tickets available so I told Rena to bring the whole damn fam!
TN Football= Jim Beam in a monster sized cup. Oh you can just smell football when you drink it!

Hanging at the Brewery before the game...

Now on to TN football fans. They are like no other... Some examples I spotted in the 3.5 hours I was there...

we paint our faces...

we wear stupid helmets and stand up and spit tobacco into a bottle...

We meet random kids and take pictures with them....

Phili- baby Charlie is HUGE now. My mom was terrorizing him with a puppet.

Townsend, TN
Dad and Sara in front of their house and yard that looks like it's straight out of Southern Living.

Baby Blair sleeping instead of hanging with me!

G-ville

My neglected husband and dog children that I left behind. Drew actually was at Appalachian State working at his nice not so little account he got this year. I asked him how many people he had working for him on Saturday. His response, "just 100". You go BOY!
