LAS VEGAS!

Drew and I got back last week from hanging in Vegas for March Madness aka VACATION! Our trip went something like this:

Flying FIRST CLASS to and from VEGAS! Can't beat it. One of the perks of spending waaaayyy to much time in the air. A few Bloody Mary's and Rum and Diets later and we were....

Checking into our UPGRADED room at the West Wing at MGM. Okay so maybe a perk for spending waaayyyy to much time and money in VEGAS through the years!

Drew did a lot of this....making his bball bets

and this with the other trillion people that were in VEGAS for March Madness

one night we found this comfy seat and plopped down and watched basketball on our own TV at the West Wing bar.

but not for long b/c we preferred to be with the zillion people.

When we did get out from under the TVs Drew would keep tabs on his games via cell phone. Heaven forbid he miss anything!

And who could forget one of Drew's birthday gifts? A day at the ESPN Zone from Tyrone and Jackson. Yep their MAMA had to pay up! We watched the TN and Clemson games from there. He cashed in 2 games instead of a full day.. thank goodness!

One night we went to see this.... It was FABULOUS!
In between basketball and shows we did some of this...

and black jack too but they don't let you take pics of that for evidence!Another night we went to CUT for dinner in the Palazzo. $250 later we were fat and happy!
and after dinner we went to this... A little dirty to say the least! Oops bad choice but we still had fun!

we did some of this during the day....

walked around and visited the casinos

another night we had sushi hereand then went to see my favorite show (we have seen all of them but one now!!!) LOVE with music to the Beatles

me acting like a Beatle when we picked up our ticketsOn Saturday we went CLUBBIN' It is quite an accomplishment for this girl to go CLUBBIN' b/c that entails staying up VERY LATE and I love my beauty sleep!

VooDoo Lounge on top of the RIO.
A little windy???

the dance floor at one club disappeared and up came a huge round stage with these dancers... in the middle of the club!!! Crazy
Late night in VEGAS you tend to run into interesting people dressed... well... interesting!
and of course you cannot "do VEGAS" without a few of these....

We had a great trip!!!! Next stop.. Brent and Whitney's wedding in TN a whole 4 days after we got home. Whew this girl is tired :)

A few SHOUT OUTS!!!

Atlanta to see the FAM...

Drew and I went to Atlanta to visit the fam 2 weekends ago. We had a great time visiting, getting our nails done (me), watching basketball at Taco Mac, eating at the club a couple of times, and spending Saturday night downtown. Most of all we just had a great time seeing our fam!

Nick and Drew in the convertible going out for a spin. I always tease them that they look like 2 gay men cruising around town :)

The girls had a nail day of course!

Maddie and Bless and Mike

Helen and Nick at the club on Friday night

We all piled (literally) in the car Saturday night and went downtown. We started off with drinks at the Sundial at the top of the Westin hotel. So cool! Then we went for a very nice dinner at Ray's.

On Sunday we went to church and had brunch at the club.

Great Day (Greg Brown) and Pam joined us to.

Drew's Birthday Days!!!

In the Cawood house we don't celebrate birthdays lightly. When Drew and I have a birthday we think it should be a big drawn out celebration. Drew turned the big 35 on March 5! We started the celebration on March 4 with dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse. YUMMY! It just opened in Greenville and we have been dying to go. I did all the tile so I was watching it go from ground up waiting and waiting on it to open.

I bought Drew's cake the morning of March 4 and by noon I couldn't stand the thought of it sitting in our freezer. I am a dessert PIG and do not do well maintaining my composure when I know desserts are in the house. So at 12:01 I yelled up to Drew; "I have a surprise for you, do you want it now or wait until later?" His response was... later in fine. Darn it! Well, I waited 15 minutes and yelled again; " I have a surprise for you, do you want it now or later?" He cracked up and came down from his office and I gave him the cake. I hadn't even bought the candles yet...haha! So immediately I cut into it and we had a piece for lunch. Big Fatty couldn't wait on Drew's Baskin Robbins ice cream birthday cake until March 5!

March 5- REAL BIRTHDAY....
I woke Drew up and gave him his birthday gifts. We are going to Las Vegas on March 18 so that was Drew's main gift. I made him cute cards with everything Vegas style... free diner at your favoirte place, $100 free play, etc. Jackson and Tyrone gave him a day at the ESPN Zone watching basketball. He was most thrilled about that one! That evening we went to the TN vs SC basketball game. We started out on the Vista having beers with some friends.
me in ORANGE and Drew in Gamecock BLACK

Too bad by the end of the game my birthday boys team lost! Of course he had me take this pic when they were tied.

We headed to Atlanta Friday to see Drew's family.. next post!

Date with the FIL

I had a date with my favorite Clemson fan last night. That would be my father-in-law Nick. We went to the locals favorite Esso Club for beers and wings and then headed to the Clemson vs VA game. I was a terrible supporter/wife this year and this was my first game this season and Clemson's last. I hope to do better next year!

a little blurry...

Brent was at the game. We got to visit with him at the Esso Club after the game too! Blurry too!

It was senior night at the game. I cried, I have no idea why. Drew is standing in front of the team... Purple shirt, kakki pants with paper in back pocket.

SNOW DAY in March!

Well it snowed, and snowed, and snowed some more at our house yesterday. We think we got about 5 inches... that's a lot for SOUTH CAROLINA!!! We didn't have electricity from about 9pm until 2 am last night. Tyrone let us know it was back on by barking and crying once the light in the kitchen came on :) We have had fun outside playing with the dogs... they have no idea what to think of all this mess. Jackson has had a few fits over his ball getting snow all over it and Tyrone tried to swim. That's a snow day for you from the Cawood house!

Not the smartest dog on the block...

Shorts and gloves. Makes sense to me!

Soup Day!

For some reason Blogger is making my pics small? Anyway...

Today in anticipation of the snow that is coming to SOUTH CAROLINA (it is dumping snow now!!!) Drew decided to make his famous chicken noodle soup. Drew cooks one thing and one thing only-Chicken Noodle Soup- and it is soooo good! He s a great griller but the man stays away from the kitchen :) Apparently while I was gone on one of my trips he saw Paula Dean talk about how she uses a "Bachelor Bird" (that is my word for it) cooked chicken from the grocery store when making her soup. Drew normally boils his. He decided to try Paula Dean's way this time and his exact words were; "Paula Dean is amazing!" I about peed in my pants. We had the dogs in b/c it was so cold so they helped a little too...
